With a solid performance that included going up against the #15 team in the nation, Rayvonte Rice, a 6-4 sophomore from Drake, has earned the StatSheet NCAA Player of the Week. StatSheet's NCAA Freshman of the Week is Maurice Harkless from St. John's and Ronald Roberts Jr. from St. Joseph's (PA) is StatSheet's NCAA 6th Man of the Week. Rice put up an impressive 21 points per game, 4 assists per game, and 3 steals per game in a victory against Wichita State and a loss to Creighton.
Rice led scoring (23) and rebounding (11) for the Bulldogs in a 77-69 loss to Creighton. He then led the team in rebounding (14) with 8 assists in a narrow 93-86 victory over Wichita State.
This is the first time this season that Rayvonte Rice has been selected StatSheet NCAA Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is senior Draymond Green from Michigan State. Honorable mention goes to sophomore Raphiael Putney from Massachusetts.
StatSheet NCAA Freshman of the Week: St. John's's Maurice Harkless
Maurice Harkless played an average of 37 minutes starting both games for the Red Storm. He led all freshmen in rebounding (13.0 per game). In a 78-62 victory against West Virginia, Harkless led scoring and rebounding with 23 and 13, respectively. In an 83-76 loss to Duke, he led scoring and rebounding with 30 and 13.
This is a first for Harkless, who has never won the StatSheet NCAA Freshman of the Week award. The runner-up is Branden Dawson from Michigan State. Honorable mention goes to LaDontae Henton from Providence. The highest ranking freshman from Villanova was JayVaughn Pinkston who finished 8th.
StatSheet NCAA 6th Man of the Week: St. Joseph's (PA)'s Ronald Roberts Jr.
Sophomore Ronald Roberts Jr. averaged 30 minutes over two games for the Hawks. In a 77-63 win over Dayton, Roberts Jr. led the Hawks in scoring with 27 points shooting 90%. Then in a 78-60 loss to Temple, he led all scoring and rebounding with 17 and 10.
This is the first time this season Roberts Jr. has won the StatSheet NCAA 6th Man of the Week award. Chris Evans, a junior forward from Kent State, is runner-up. Darnell Dodson, a senior guard from Southern Miss, wins honorable mention.
