With a solid performance that included going up against the #6 team in the nation, John Shurna, a 6-9 senior from Northwestern, has won the StatSheet NCAA Player of the Week. Andre Drummond from Connecticut is the StatSheet NCAA Freshman of the Week and StatSheet's NCAA 6th Man of the Week is Baylor's Pierre Jackson. Shurna put up an impressive 21.5 points per game in a win against 6th ranked Michigan State and a loss to Michigan.
Shurna led scoring (21) and rebounding (6) for the Wildcats in a 66-64 loss to Michigan. He then led the team in scoring (22) and added an additional 2 blocked shots in an 81-74 upset of Michigan State.
This is the first time John Shurna has been named the StatSheet NCAA Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is Brandon Paul, a junior from Illinois. Honorable mention goes to Richmond sophomore Derrick Williams.
StatSheet NCAA Freshman of the Week: Connecticut's Andre Drummond
Andre Drummond played an average of 36 minutes starting both games for the Huskies. In a 64-57 victory against West Virginia, Drummond churned out 20 points and 11 rebounds. In a 67-53 win over Notre Dame, he had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
This is the first StatSheet NCAA Freshman of the Week award for Drummond. The runner-up is Cody Zeller from Indiana. Honorable mention goes to LaDontae Henton from Providence.
StatSheet NCAA 6th Man of the Week: Baylor's Pierre Jackson
Junior Pierre Jackson averaged 31 minutes over two games for the Bears. In a narrow 75-73 win over Kansas State, Jackson chalked up 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Then in a 106-65 humbling of Oklahoma State, he contributed 8 assists and 5 steals.
This is the first time this season Jackson has won the StatSheet NCAA 6th Man of the Week award. Rhamel Brown, a sophomore forward/center from Manhattan, is runner-up. Josh Parker, a senior guard from Dayton, wins honorable mention.
