Jordan Theodore from Seton Hall has been selected for StatSheet's Big East Player of the Week for January 9th. St. John's's D`Angelo Harrison has won StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week. Also, C.J. Fair from Syracuse is StatSheet's Big East 6th Man of the Week.
Theodore was the Big East leader in assists (10.0 per game). He also tallied respectable numbers with 3 rebounds per game and 16.5 points per game. The Seton Hall senior led his team to victories versus 8th ranked Connecticut and Providence.
Theodore led all scoring for the Pirates with 19 points while adding 11 assists in a 75-63 shocker over Connecticut. He followed that up with 9 assists and 6 steals in a 66-57 win over Providence.
This is the second StatSheet Big East Player of the Week honor for Jordan Theodore. He has also been named a runner-up once. The runner-up this week is Marquette senior Jae Crowder. Honorable mention goes to Kevin Jones, a senior from West Virginia.
StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week: St. John's's D`Angelo Harrison
D`Angelo Harrison was on the floor an average of 39 minutes while starting both games for St. John's. He was number one among all Big East freshmen in both scoring (21.0 pts per game) and free throws (5.5 per game). In a 73-58 loss to Louisville, Harrison led all scoring and rebounding for the Red Storm with 24 and 8 respectively. Against Cincinnati, in a thin 57-55 win, he led all scoring with 18 points and also put up 7 rebounds.
This is a first for D`Angelo Harrison, who has never won the StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is LaDontae Henton from Providence. Honorable mention goes to Eli Carter from Rutgers. JayVaughn Pinkston, who finished 14th, was the highest ranking freshman for Villanova.
StatSheet Big East 6th Man of the Week: Syracuse's C.J. Fair
Sophomore C.J. Fair, a 6-8 reserve forward, averaged 34 minutes over two games for the Orange. In an 87-73 win against Providence, Fair put up 12 points and 4 rebounds. After that, in a 73-66 win over Marquette, he racked up 13 points and 8 rebounds.
C.J. Fair has won the StatSheet Big East 6th Man of the Week an amazing 3 times. Jawanza Poland, a junior guard from South Florida, is runner up. Blake Nash, a sophomore guard from South Florida, receives honorable mention. Villanova has yet to win StatSheet Big East Player of the Week.
