Jeremy Lamb from Connecticut has won StatSheet's Big East Player of the Week for January 16th. StatSheet's Big East Freshman of the Week goes to Connecticut's Andre Drummond. And last but not least, DePaul's Worrel Clahar has won StatSheet's Big East 6th Man of the Week. Lamb put up great stats in rebounding (5.5 per game), scoring (15.5 pts per game), and assists (5 per game). The Connecticut sophomore led the Huskies to victories against West Virginia and Notre Dame.
Lamb topped all scoring for the Huskies with 25 points while also adding 8 rebounds in a 64-57 win over West Virginia. That was followed by 6 points and 7 assists in a 67-53 victory over Notre Dame.
This is the first StatSheet Big East Player of the Week award for Jeremy Lamb. However, he has received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is senior Kevin Jones from West Virginia. Honorable mention goes to sophomore Kadeem Batts from Providence. The highest ranking player from Villanova was Maalik Wayns who finished 10th.
StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week: Connecticut's Andre Drummond
Andre Drummond averaged 36 minutes as a starter for Connecticut. He led all Big East freshmen in both rebounding (12.0 per game) and blocked shots (2.5 per game). In the win over West Virginia, Drummond tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds. Then in the win against Notre Dame, he dialed up 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Andre Drummond has won the StatSheet Big East Freshman of the Week an astounding 3 times. LaDontae Henton from Providence gets runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Maurice Harkless from St. John's. The highest ranking freshman from Villanova was JayVaughn Pinkston who finished 10th.
StatSheet Big East 6th Man of the Week: DePaul's Worrel Clahar
Worrel Clahar, a junior and a 5-11 guard, averaged 23 minutes of action over two games for the Blue Demons. In a 94-73 loss to Seton Hall, Clahar put up 14 points and 4 steals. During a 76-59 loss to Louisville, he racked up 9 points and 3 assists.
This is the first StatSheet Big East 6th Man of the Week honor for Worrel Clahar. Dion Waiters, a sophomore guard from Syracuse, is the runner up. C.J. Fair, a sophomore forward from Syracuse, earns honorable mention. Villanova has yet to win StatSheet Big East Player of the Week.
